SEAI EV Charger Grant — handled by us
We submit your SEAI Home Charger Grant application, monitor the Letter of Offer, and walk you through the post-install declaration. You receive €300 back within 4–6 weeks of installation. No SEAI portal logins, no application forms, no chasing.
What Is the SEAI Grant?
The SEAI Electric Vehicle Home Charger Grant provides €300 towards the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charger. It's administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) as part of Ireland's commitment to reducing transport emissions.
The grant is a flat €300 — not “up to” — meaning every eligible applicant receives the same amount. With Volt Éire's all-inclusive €1,299 package, your net cost after the grant is just €999.
Am I Eligible?
Most Irish homeowners with off-street parking qualify. Here are the requirements:
- You own or rent a private home in Ireland
- Your property has off-street parking (driveway, garage, or designated space)
- The charger must be on SEAI's approved product list
- One grant per property (not per person)
- You don't need to own an EV — you can install before buying
- The property must have a suitable electrical supply

Grant FAQ
How much is the SEAI grant?
The SEAI Electric Vehicle Home Charger Grant is a flat €300. This is not "up to" — it's a fixed amount for every eligible applicant.
Do I need to own an electric vehicle?
No. You can install a home charger and claim the SEAI grant before purchasing an EV. Many customers install their charger in advance.
How long does SEAI approval take?
SEAI typically approves applications the same day when all details are correct. In some cases, it may take a few business days.
Can I apply for the grant myself?
Yes, but we handle it for you at no extra cost. Our team submits and monitors the application, saving you time and ensuring everything is done correctly.
Is there a deadline for the SEAI grant?
The SEAI grant is currently available but government grants can change at any time. We recommend applying early to secure your grant.
What if my property doesn't qualify?
We'll identify eligibility issues during our assessment. The home charger grant focuses on eligible homes with off-street parking, while apartments and assigned spaces can require a separate SEAI apartment or OMC approval route.
What is the SEAI Letter of Offer?
The Letter of Offer is SEAI's approval email for your grant application. The charger should not be installed before approval is in place. Volt Éire submits the application and monitors the Letter of Offer timing for you.
Why does SEAI ask for my MPRN?
Your MPRN identifies the electricity meter for the home. SEAI uses it to confirm the address and to enforce the one-grant-per-property rule. You can find the MPRN on your electricity bill.
Does off-street parking matter for the grant?
Yes. The SEAI home charger grant is intended for private homes with off-street parking such as a driveway, garage or designated space associated with the property. Parking only on a public road can make the application ineligible or require planning review.
Can renters apply with landlord permission?
Yes. Renters can apply if they have written permission from the property owner and the home meets the grant requirements. We recommend confirming permission before booking any installation work.
What documents are needed for the SEAI claim?
The claim normally needs the approved grant application details, proof of installation, Safe Electric certification, charger and installer details, and the post-install declaration SEAI asks you to sign. Volt Éire prepares the installer paperwork and guides you through the declaration.
Who completes the installer paperwork?
Volt Éire completes the installer-side paperwork for our installation, including the details SEAI needs from the Safe Electric registered electrician and the charger installation. You only need to review and sign the customer declaration when SEAI sends it.

Prefer to pay monthly?
