What's included — end to end

SEAI grant — end to end
We submit your SEAI application, monitor the Letter of Offer, manage the 6-month deadline, and guide you through the final declaration after installation.
Safe Electric installation
A Safe Electric registered electrician installs your charger to current I.S. 10101 wiring rules, with appropriate protection, isolation, earthing, and bonding checks.
Up to code, every time
Photos help identify possible electrical upgrades. The installer checks earthing, required bonding, the fuseboard and supply on site. We explain and agree any additional work before it proceeds; defects affecting the charger must be resolved before connection.
Certification on completion
You receive Safe Electric completion certification after installation. SEAI needs it for the grant claim; keep it for your insurer and if you sell.
One price for your selected package
Your selected charger, Standard Installation, all materials, grant paperwork and certification — from €1,599 all-in (from €1,299 after the approved €300 SEAI grant). Each charger and configuration has its own fixed package price.
Aftercare + warranty cover
2-year workmanship warranty plus a 3- to 5-year manufacturer warranty, depending on the charger — and you only ever deal with one team.
What if my home needs more than Standard?
Some Irish homes need additional work before a charger can go in safely — an older fuseboard, unclear earthing or gas/water bonding, an indoor or prepay meter, or ESB Networks having to confirm capacity. In those cases:
- A Safe Electric electrician inspects on a pre-approval visit and quotes the extras transparently — before you commit to anything.
- Pricing for any extras follows the Safe Electric electrician's specification and is quoted before you book.
- We still handle the SEAI grant end-to-end — eligibility check, application, declaration, refund.
- The contractor checks the existing installation for the new circuit and provides the required Safe Electric certification on completion.
Additional work is agreed before it proceeds. Photos help us assess the scope and price before booking. The installer still checks and tests on site, where further issues can become apparent. The conditional €300 SEAI grant is separate from the cost of additional work.
When pricing adjusts beyond Standard Installation
The cost depends on your existing electrical installation, parking and cable route. If your home needs additional work, we explain the scope and price before you pay. Examples include:
- •Fuseboard / consumer-unit upgrades if your existing board cannot take a dedicated EV circuit
- •Earthing and required gas/water bonding upgrades specified by the registered installer after checking the existing installation
- •ESB Networks attendance for looped or low-MIC services
- •Cable routes, ducting, trenching or attic work outside the agreed Standard Installation scope
How we confirm the scope: photos help us assess the likely work. An electrician visit may be needed, and final safety checks happen on site. Any additional work must be explained and agreed before it proceeds. Grant eligibility is a separate SEAI decision.

Compare the full installed scope. A hardware-only price leaves out the electrical work needed to use the charger at home.

Know the payment sequence
Apply and complete the property assessment first. Once the scope is approved, pay for the installation order; we then arrange and confirm your date. A preferred date is not a confirmed appointment.
Check the grant approval requirements before eligible expenditure. The grant refund follows the completed claim, so it does not reduce the amount due upfront.

Installation price questions
- Does the installed price include the charger and VAT?
- Yes. Each package includes the selected charger and configuration, standard installation, materials, load balancing, testing, certification and grant paperwork. The displayed package prices include VAT. Additional property work is assessed and agreed separately.
- Do I pay the price before or after the SEAI grant?
- You pay the upfront installation price. Eligible customers receive €300 from SEAI after an approved completed claim. The after-grant price is the resulting net cost, not the amount due at checkout. Grant approval is required before eligible work or expenditure begins.
- Does an existing earth rod or fuseboard always need replacing?
- No. The registered contractor checks the existing installation and specifies any work needed for the new circuit. A missing photo does not establish a defect. Satisfactory existing equipment is assessed for suitability rather than automatically replaced.
- Can I get an installation price before paying?
- Yes. Start the property assessment without payment. We review the proposed charger, parking, photos and cable route, clarify any further assessment needed, and confirm the scope and price before payment. The installer still performs final inspection and testing on site.
- Do these home package prices apply to apartments and workplaces?
- A private home installation is different from work across shared parking or a business site. Apartment, workplace and commercial projects receive a site-specific quote after review of permissions, supply, bays and cable routes. Use the business enquiry route for these projects.
