Load balancing and solar
Two things people mix up, so worth separating. Load balancing stops the charger overloading your house. Solar diversion is about charging on electricity you have generated yourself. They use similar hardware, but they are not the same feature.
Dynamic load balancing — DLB included
Dynamic load balancing is fitted as standard, using current sensors on your incoming supply so the charger backs off when the house is drawing heavily.
It works using CT clamps — current sensors that clip around your incoming supply cable and measure what the whole house is drawing. If the shower and the oven come on mid-charge, the charger eases off so the main fuse never trips, then ramps back up. Without it, the safe alternative is permanently limiting the charger to a lower current.
With home solarDiverts surplus
Eligible Home Pro setups can use surplus solar. Solar Boost may also use grid electricity to meet your target; Solar Only is available on eligible setups shown in the app. Check the available modes and settings before relying on solar-only charging.
The CT clamp included in our installation, a working sensor reading, internet access and an eligible charger/software setup.
Either way, exporting surplus earns you the feed-in rate while using it yourself offsets the full unit rate — which is why diversion pays on a sunny afternoon. How solar and load balancing work.

What's included — end to end
One Standard Installation price (€1,599) covers everything from the SEAI grant application through to post-install certification and aftercare. You deal with one team, and we guide you through the final SEAI declaration after installation.
SEAI grant — end to end
We submit your SEAI application, monitor the Letter of Offer, manage the 6-month deadline, and guide you through the final declaration after installation.
Safe Electric installation
A Safe Electric registered electrician installs your charger to current I.S. 10101 wiring rules, with appropriate protection, isolation, earthing, and bonding checks.
Up to code, every time
Photos help identify possible electrical upgrades. The installer checks earthing, required bonding, the fuseboard and supply on site. We explain and agree any additional work before it proceeds; defects affecting the charger must be resolved before connection.
Certification on completion
You receive Safe Electric completion certification after installation — required by SEAI, by your insurer, and good for resale.
Standard pricing covers everything
Charger, install, all materials, grant paperwork, and certification — €1,599 all-in. Net cost €1,299 after the €300 SEAI refund.
Aftercare + warranty cover
2-year workmanship warranty plus a 3- to 5-year manufacturer warranty, depending on the charger — and you only ever deal with one team.
What if my home needs more than Standard?
Some Irish homes need additional work before a charger can go in safely — an older fuseboard, unclear earthing or gas/water bonding, an indoor or prepay meter, or ESB Networks having to confirm capacity. In those cases:
- A Safe Electric electrician inspects on a low-cost pre-approval visit and quotes the extras transparently — before you commit to anything.
- Pricing for any extras follows the Safe Electric electrician's specification and is quoted before you book.
- We still handle the SEAI grant end-to-end — eligibility check, application, declaration, refund.
- Your home is brought up to code as part of the work and you get the same Safe Electric certification on completion.
No surprises on install day. Whatever your home needs to be compliant, you see the full price before you book — and you keep the €300 SEAI refund either way.
