SEAI Grant Application Process

Volt Éire handles the SEAI EV Home Charger Grant application end-to-end. From application to €300 refund, here's exactly what happens and when.

  1. 1

    You complete the online assessment

You upload photos of your fuseboard, ESB meter, earth rod, and a short walkthrough video, plus your Eircode and electricity bill. Takes 10-15 minutes. We use this to confirm Standard Installation eligibility and pre-fill your SEAI grant application.

  2. 2

Volt Éire submits the SEAI application

On the day you book, we submit the SEAI EV Home Charger Grant application on your behalf via the SEAI portal. We use your MPRN, Eircode, name, and email to register the application — you don't fill in any forms yourself.

  3. 3

SEAI issues a Letter of Offer (typically same day)

When all your details are correct, SEAI typically approves the application the same day. You receive a Letter of Offer by email with a 6-month validity window. Volt Éire monitors this for you.

  4. 4

We install — usually within 1-2 weeks of approval

Our Safe Electric registered electrician installs your charger in 2-4 hours on the date you booked. You pay €1,299 upfront when you book; the SEAI grant is refunded after installation.

  5. 5

    You sign the SEAI declaration

After installation, SEAI emails you a short declaration to sign confirming the install was completed. This typically arrives within 5 working days of completion. You sign it electronically — takes about 30 seconds.

  6. 6

€300 refunded to your bank account

Once you sign the declaration, SEAI processes the €300 refund directly to your bank account. The refund typically arrives 4-6 weeks after the declaration is signed. Volt Éire monitors the timeline and chases SEAI if there's any delay.

Total time: about 6 weeks from application to refund

We handle the entire timeline so you never miss a deadline.
