Wallbox Pulsar Max or BENY: compare your home setup

3 min read
Updated

Start with the cable reach, controls and installation scope you need. BENY and Wallbox are both options in Volt Éire’s home-charger range, but a brand comparison cannot tell you whether your electricity supply, cable route or parking position is suitable. Arrange that assessment before choosing the package.

Which exact chargers are being compared?

Our BENY option is the tethered BCP-A2N-P. The Pulsar Max listing includes configuration choices, so confirm the exact connector and cable arrangement when ordering. The BENY catalogue and Wallbox datasheet cover product variants; use the Volt Éire charger selector to check the package actually offered.

Will one charge your car faster?

Do not choose from the largest figure printed on a product-family datasheet. Confirm the output of the unit and configuration being offered, the car’s AC charging capability and the supply assessment. Ask the installer what charging arrangement is suitable for that combination. Neither the charger’s name nor a generic range-per-hour estimate is a useful promise for every car.

When comparing two cars, list where each charging port sits and how the vehicles normally park. A cable that reaches one vehicle comfortably may be awkward for another. Check the practical route without crossing a public footpath or creating a trip hazard.

What should you check in the app?

  • Ask how to set and change your charging schedule.
  • Check the communications requirements at the mounting position.
  • Confirm any feature you need against the exact model and current manufacturer documentation.
  • Ask for a handover covering charging records, user access and support.

Do not buy the offered BENY package on an assumption of native Home Assistant, Alexa or OCPP integration. Ask for exact-model evidence for any third-party automation you intend to use. A product-family description is not confirmation for every variant.

How should you compare installed prices?

Use the current installed-price comparison and the Standard Installation scope. Compare the complete selected package, then identify any separately quoted work. A hardware-only price from a manufacturer or retailer is not an installed quote.

Check grant eligibility separately. The SEAI Home Charger Grant provides up to €300, subject to its conditions and a successful claim. Do not assume that choosing a listed charger guarantees payment.

What should happen before installation?

Ask the registered electrical contractor to assess the supply, cable route, protection, earthing and bonding for the actual job. A feature advertised on the charger does not replace that assessment. Do not open a fuse board or meter enclosure to investigate it yourself.

Provide safely taken photographs and tell us about other large electrical loads or planned renovations. Any extra work should be described and priced before you authorise it. See the installation preparation checklist.

Choose from the complete proposal

Shortlist the cable arrangement and controls that suit your household, then compare written installed scopes. Start a Volt Éire assessment with the parking position and your preferred charger so the proposal can be checked against the property.

€1,299 after the €300 SEAI grant (€1,599 payable upfront). Start with your property details, then add photos and a short walkthrough video. We check the installation scope and confirm the price before payment. You can save your progress and come back.
