We could not confirm a current SEAI grant for workplace charge points when we reviewed this guide on 15 October 2026. SEAI's €300 home charger grant is for private homes, and apartments and shared parking have their own route. Before you budget for any workplace funding, check SEAI's EV charging grants page or ask SEAI at evchargers@seai.ie.
Which EV charger grants can help?
| Where the charger goes | SEAI support | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A private home with off-street parking | Home Charger Grant, €300 for an eligible applicant | See our guide to the home charger grant |
| An apartment, assigned bay or shared car park | A separate SEAI route for multi-unit developments | See apartment and shared parking |
| An office or business site | No current scheme confirmed | Check with SEAI before you budget |
If your staff charge at home, the home charger grant applies to their own eligible home, not to the workplace. Volt Éire's standard home package is €1,599 upfront, or €1,299 after an approved €300 SEAI grant. The grant depends on the applicant's eligibility, SEAI approval before any expenditure, eligible equipment and a valid claim.
What to plan for a workplace charging project
- Spaces and use: how many bays you want to equip, who will use them (staff, visitors or fleet vehicles) and how long cars usually stay parked.
- Supply capacity: the site's electricity supply and distribution board decide how many chargers can run at once. Load management can share the available power between chargers.
- Access and payment: whether charging is free, paid by the driver or recorded per person, and how access is controlled.
- Standards and certification: all electrical work must comply with the National Rules for Electrical Installations (I.S. 10101:2020+A1:2024/AC2:2025) and be certified by a Safe Electric Registered Electrical Contractor.
How do I get EV chargers installed at my business?
Workplace sites are scoped after a site survey, not sold as the home package. Tell us about your site: the number of spaces, the parking layout and what you know about the supply. We will come back to you about the next step.
What to do today
- Count the spaces you want to equip and note who will use them.
- Find the site's electricity account details, including the MPRN on a recent bill.
- Check SEAI's EV charging grants page for any scheme that fits your site before you commit to a budget.
- If you run a business from home and park on your own driveway, the €300 home charger grant may apply instead, subject to SEAI's conditions.
