The Z-BOX app

Z-BOX is the manufacturer's app for your BENY charger. It's free, available on iOS and Android, and you don't need an account with Volt Éire to use it.

Quick Wi-Fi setup

Use this when you just want to get the charger connected to your home Wi-Fi.

  1. Download Z-BOX from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. Stand beside the charger and open Z-BOX.
  4. Tap Add Device.
  5. Select the charger when it appears.
  6. Enter the default charger password: 123456.
  7. Once added, open the charger Settings.
  8. Tap Change Connecting Mode.
  9. Choose WLAN mode / Wi-Fi mode.
  10. Confirm the switch from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi.
  11. Enter the home Wi-Fi password and confirm.

Wi-Fi note: connect your phone to the same home Wi-Fi first. If your router has separate bands, choose the normal 2.4 GHz network rather than a 5 GHz-only network.

2. Pair via Bluetooth (first time)

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and stand within ~5 metres of the charger.
  2. Open Z-BOX. On the device list screen, tap the + button (top right) → Add device.
  3. The app scans for nearby chargers. Tap yours when it appears.
  4. Enter the default password: 123456
  5. Once paired, give the charger a name (e.g. "Driveway").

Change the default password after pairing — Settings → Change Account Password. Anyone within Bluetooth range with the default password could otherwise connect.

3. Sign up for an account

Tap Sign In at the top of the device list, then Sign Up. Enter your email — Z-BOX will send a verification code.

An account isn't required for Bluetooth-only use, but it may be needed for features such as history sync across devices and sharing.

4. Connect to your home Wi-Fi (optional)

  1. Make sure your phone is connected to the same home Wi-Fi network you want the charger to use.
  2. Open the charger in Z-BOX, then go to Settings.
  3. Tap Change Connecting Mode.
  4. Choose WLAN mode / Wi-Fi mode.
  5. Confirm the switch from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi.
  6. Enter your home Wi-Fi password and tap Confirm.
  7. Wait for the app to confirm the connection mode has changed from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi.

The BENY manual describes Wi-Fi mode as local-network control: your phone and charger should be on the same Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth remains the fallback if Wi-Fi is not set up.

If Wi-Fi setup fails

  • Check the charger is powered on.
  • Check the charger is not already connected to another phone.
  • Keep the phone close to the charger during Bluetooth pairing.
  • Use the same home Wi-Fi network on your phone and charger.
  • Delete the charger from Z-BOX and add it again over Bluetooth.

What you'll see in the app

  • Live: power (kW), current (A), voltage (V), kWh delivered, temperature.
  • Start / Stop: remote control once you're plugged in.
  • Schedule: a single start/end window, or a different plan for every weekday.
  • kWh cap: stop the session automatically after a set number of kWh — handy if you only want a top-up.
  • History: the last 20 days in detail plus a 12-month rollup.
  • Settings: max charge current (6–32 A), grounding detection, emergency stop toggle, RFID binding, firmware updates.
  • DLB modes (only if you have the optional DLB box): Normal, Pure PV, Hybrid, Full-speed.
