Your first charge

Your BENY BCP-A2N-P has a fixed 5 m Type 2 cable. The installer commissions the charger and shows you the Z-BOX app and any enabled RFID access controls. Pair using the supplied charger details and change the initial app connection password. Keep those details private.

1. Plug the attached cable into your car.
2. Authorise using the app or supplied RFID card if access control is enabled.
3. Check charging status in Z-BOX. A saved schedule may delay the start.
4. Stop charging and unlock the connector through the vehicle before unplugging; return the connector to its holder.

Schedules and access cards

Use the Z-BOX Reservation function for a repeating weekly schedule, or timed charging for a single session. Set the times to your electricity tariff and plug in before the start. Check the vehicle's own schedule and charge limit if a session does not start. RFID and app authorisation depend on the access settings chosen at handover. Leave maximum-current, earthing and DLB settings to the installer.

Z-BOX connectivity

Use Bluetooth near the charger. The residential Z-BOX guide also describes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with the phone and charger on the same local network. Wi-Fi does not by itself establish remote access from outside the home. Ethernet, OCPP and optional 4G features vary across the BENY family; check the supplied unit before relying on them. A 4G modem or SIM is not included in our standard BENY package.

Load balancing and data cabling

Our installation includes a BENY DLB box and current sensors. The box adjusts charging as household demand changes. Its wired communication link to the charger carries RS485 data; an RJ45 connector does not make that link a home Ethernet connection. The installer selects the compatible box, cable and route. Do not connect a DLB cable to a router or move a current sensor yourself.

Charging with solar panels

Our BENY package does not provide automatic solar-surplus diversion. A daytime schedule may use available solar generation but can also draw grid electricity. The wider BENY range and some accessory manuals describe PV modes; those features are not a promise for this package. Choose a supported solar-diverting model if you want charging to follow changing surplus generation.

Status lights and charging problems

Use the BENY troubleshooting guide for the exact light colour and flash count. Check the saved schedule, RFID/app authorisation and the vehicle's charge limit first. Stop using the charger if it is damaged, smells burnt or repeatedly trips the supply. Contact ev@volteire.ie with the model, serial number, app error and a photo of the light pattern. Do not open the enclosure or change electrical protection settings.

Cable care and charging speed

Keep connectors clean and dry, store cables clear of vehicle tyres and walking routes, and avoid tight bends or pulling on the cable. Do not use a damaged lead or force a locked connector. Keep the charger exterior clean without pressure washing. Actual charging speed is limited by the car's onboard AC charger, the cable, household capacity, load balancing and battery conditions. A rated output is a maximum, not a fixed full-charge time. Tell us the vehicle model if its AC connection differs from Type 2.

Warranty and support

Your installation is covered by a 2-year Volt Éire workmanship warranty, and the charger unit carries a separate 3-year manufacturer warranty from BENY. We handle manufacturer claims for you — one email to ev@volteire.ie covers both. Keep your invoice, serial number and installation handover documents for any claim.
